In the night of Easter Sunday between 12:00am and 1:00am the girls get the easter water from a stream. The stream flows from easterly direction, means there where the sunrise.

The Easter water served for well-being purpose for people and animals. So the cattle was sprinkled with Easter water so that illnesses is kept away.

But also the faith in purity and beauty by the water drove the girls at night out to the water.
Neck and face were washed with the water because the Easter water gave the bearer beauty and freshness for a whole year.

The girls had to be silent on the way back there, otherwise the water will lost its effect to the person who break the code of silence, it had only prattling water and the people would laughed to the person who break the code of silence (embarrasing). The Easter water will lost its effect completely!

The boys of the village tried to persuade the girls to speak on the way back with being frightened or making jokes. The girls countered with a cool gush from the jug.

If the water got frozen, you could recognize the suffering Christi by the ice.
