Information

Grüne Wiesen und Bäume im Branitzer ParkKilometres unite approximately the historically interesting castle hill 9 metres rises over the level northeast of Burg in the Spreewald. A 27 metres high tower was built in this place within the years 1915 to 1917.

An outlook tower which allows a panoramic look over the single countryside of the Burger Spreewald was created with that. On the other hand, this building represents a testimony of the Bismarck monument movement which left traces after the death of the first German German Chancellor Otto Graf von Bismarck in 1898 in all of Germany.

The tower experienced a varied story to this day. Until the beginning of the Second World War thousands of visitors climbed the tower; during the war it served as an observation point of the air force; In 1951 it was renamed into the tower "of the youth", since autumn 1990 the tower has been called Bismarck tower again.

Numerous events take place in front of the scenery of the Bismarck tower meanwhile. The "night of the pumpkin spirits" or the "Spreewald legend night" is only some of this.
